Making Due by M.J.
Reviewer: Regan V

Title: Making Due
Author: M.J.
Rating: NC-17
Category: Drama
Warnings: Harry is presumably underage here (possibly under 18) although it's not entirely clear. Certainly, he seems to be over 16.

Summary: Harry and Snape both take a break from the war.

Some people might call this a PWP. Ah, but if all PWPs were like this one, they wouldn’t have a reputation as a lesser art form. “Making Due” works on several levels. It’s a brilliant piece of erotica, for starters. But the story is also a sharp, bittersweet observation of how war (and other tragedies) can limit our options, forcing us to choices that we would not have otherwise contemplated, turning us into people we had not planned to become. It shows Harry’s accommodation to the fact that much of his life is out of his control, and how he manages to come to terms with that. It is a short piece, but oh, so satisfying on every level.
